Tennis Elbow Revisited

Recently, a reader informed me that a link in one of my posts about relieving tennis elbow was no longer valid. I found another link for him and recently also ran across a product that may also help relieve the pain.

This website lists seven exercises that can be performed with common household items (a soup can, a hammer) and have been proven (by me) to give relief. They are easy to do and really make a difference. I also found a video that shows three of the exercises that were key.
and Today, I read about tennis elbow therapy using a rubber bar that is supposed to work better. Several manufacturers make them:

According to the sites I scanned, twisting the bar provides better therapy than the exercises suggested earlier. A New York Times article says, "In the exercise, a person holds the bar upright at his or her side using the hand connected to the sore elbow, then grasps it near the top with the good hand. The top hand twists as the bar is brought around in front of the body and positioned perpendicular to the ground; the sore hand then takes over, slowly untwisting the bar by flexing the wrist. 'Afterward, you should be sore,' Tyler says. 'That’s how we know it’s effective.'” 

If you suffer from tennis elbow, I hope you'll take time to check out these articles and try the exercises. They worked for me. It can take a while to recover fully. Once you do, you can keep tennis elbow from coming back by squeezing a tennis ball or a squeezable exercise ball. ​
