Bruce and the Road to Courage Wins the 2015 OneBookAZ Award
I am pleased to announce that Bruce and the Road to Courage won the 2015 OneBookAZ award for children's books! The formal announce-ment was made at the Tucson Festival of Books on March 14th. Along with the other two authors selected (for adult and young-adult books), the Arizona State Library is sending me to libraries and schools around Arizona during the months of April and May to talk about the book and writing.
The OneBookAZ project brings communities together through literature. Focusing now on eBooks, their writing competition was held during November 2014. OneBookAZ encourages writing, reading, and thoughtful interaction with literature in digital formats. Beginning in April, communities across the state of Arizona are encouraged to read these books at the same time (free for the month of April) and participate in discussions and programs centered around the books.
I will be traveling to nine different cities as part of this program, talking to children, teens, and adults about subjects as diverse as what it's like to be an author, my process for writing, and how to publish an eBook.
I feel lucky to have such a great program in our state, and I hope those of you in Arizona with books forthcoming will consider entering next November.
