In September, 2011, I received a note from Rebecca Valbuena, a fifth-grade teacher at Stanton Elementary School in Glendora, California. Mrs. Valbuena told me that she had received a copy of Bruce and the Road to Courage from a friend and had begun her school year by reading it to her students. She asked if I would consider visiting if I was ever in Southern California because the students were all huge fans.

     Of course, I arranged a visit! I arrived on October 11th and spent most of the day with them, answering questions, talking about writing and being an author, and reading from the book. The students were wonderful -- they asked insightful questions and I was overwhelmed by their response to the book.

     Shortly after I returned home, I received a bound "book" containing letters from all 97 of her students (three classes) thanking me for visiting and telling me what they liked, and so on. I have reproduced some of those letters here (I have removed their names and other personal data). I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did.
